2017 Hurley Lower Trestles Pro Wrap-Up
Jordy Smith keeps the yellow jersey and Silvana Lima takes the win
Congratulations to Jordy Smith on his runner up finish to Filipe Toledo and congratulations to Silvana Lima on taking the win in the Women’s Swatch Pro Event. The Hurley Pro started off slow in the beginning with the first few days being called for a lay-day, but when the contest started so did the fireworks. There was an interesting situation with Mick Fanning and Kanoa Igarashi in Round 3 where a blocked interference wasn’t called until after the heat where Kanoa won, but had to have a re-surf heat the next morning for a spot in Round 4, which Kanoa won against Fanning again. Jordy came out hot out the gates with his new Yellow Jersey winning every heat with massive heat scores and wolverine claims, but got second in Round 4 and the Final. John John was another surfer on fire looking to take the win and regain the Yellow jersey, but met Filipe in a lully semi-final where he came up short. Huge congratulations to Silvana Lima, back on Futures and back on fire. Her first CT final in 7 years and she didn’t disappoint. Taking the win over Keely Andrew who beat Courtney Conlogue in the semi-finals in the last dying seconds. Congrats to Jordy Smith and Silvana Lima, keep the fire going.
